Tim Cook Hopes To See China As Apple's Largest Market In Near Future

January 10, 2013
China is set to become Apple's largest market in the near future. And that's coming straight from the horse's mouth. In an interview with Sina Tech, Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is once again visiting the country, said that he is convinced that China will become the largest market for Apple. Currently, the world's most populous country is the tech company's second largest market. In addition, Cook expressed his hope of seeing China, a country which he said he has deep affection for, as one of the first countries to secure the availability of Apple's new products. To that end, Apple has been cooperating with authorities in order to shorten the gap of product approval between the Chinese market and other developed markets. Cook also said that he has recently visited Apple's Chinese business partners, including China Unicom and China Telecom. China Mobile, which is the largest mobile carrier not only in the country but also in the entire world, is yet to partner with Apple. Cook said that he holds deep respect for China Mobile, but he can't reveal the possibilities for cooperation with the carrier. At the moment, Apple already has 11 stores in the Greater China Region. But Cook said that his company will continue to increase this number to as high as 25 to help sell its upcoming products. Cook said that he could not comment on Apple's current product roadmap. He did say, though, that his company is never short on innovation and that he is satisfied with its achievements. "Our excellent products pushed up consumer expectations," Cook said, "but we have higher expectations within." Source: Sina Tech
